Founding Story…

It was a sunny afternoon in May.

Brede was frequented by the little six-year-old neighbor, asking to play. This day — to draw with chalk on her front porch.
While tracing lines on the pavement, pigtails bobbing, she jumped to her feet, and began pulling Brede behind for a visit next door.

Sticking her wriggly fingers into the golden metal mail slot, sing-songingly calling for her friend; “Madras…Maaadraaasss”
There, behind the now ajar door, stood 5-foot 4-inch, 73-year-old woman with buzzed white hair.

As gentle as the breeze she welcomed them both in, offering flowers from her garden, and began searching for scissors. Stepping through the doorway, Brede was greeted by immaculate rugs beneath her feet. Opening her mouth to comment, she raised her eyes to the rest of the room. To the walls— just as immaculate– and covered in art and paintings that she would come to find out were the creations of the woman standing before her.

The rest of the evening unfolded between the garden and Madras’ studio; over glasses of wine, laughs, and tears; as Madras poured over her experiences, memories, and art.

With Brede’s background in marketing and advertising, they came to partner together and combine their skills to form a business, now known as LMN ARTWORKS.
